Last Chance for Memorial Park Comments

by John Kiljan

Dear CLRC members and friends,

Park users still have a chance to comment on the final concept plans for the Memorial Park rebuild.  The public comment period closes Wednesday afternoon, April 10th.

The last public meeting on the park was held on April 4th and had about 30 attendees.  Most of those seemed to be disc golfers.  That’s good.  There are a lot of overuse problems in this small neighborhood park next to the police station, but the primary conflicts have been between disc golfers and other users.  Most of the consultant’s work has been to try to minimize those conflicts.

Attached to this note to members is a copy of the Final Preliminary Design which incorporates most of the public feedback so far.  If I’ve done this right, you should be able to blow the image up as large as needed to see the detail by simply clicking on it.  Unfortunately, the sketches shown on April 4th that had the planned links and holes (baskets) layouts for the disc golf course are not available.

You can still comment on the proposed design by the close of business on Wednesday afternoon by contacting Kristin Cypher at the Britina Design Group, at kristin@britina.com or at 303-456-2887 ext 302.  Or you can contact the City of Arvada parks people directly at 720-838-7400.
