Council Election Results and Website Views

by John Kiljan

Dear CLRC members and friends,

This is just a quick update on the Arvada City Council election and the number of viewers your neighborhood association had during its campaign coverage.

As of today, the numbers I have from both Jefferson and Adams County are now

At Large

Don Allard  16,803 votes (56%)

Ascenzo Di Giacomo  12,953 (44%)

with Mr Allard winning by 3850 votes.

District 3

John Marriott  3258 votes (47%)

Ted Terranova  2697 votes (39%)

Justin Vicory  959 votes (14%)

with Mr Marriott winning by 561 votes.

District 1

Rachel Zenzinger  5690 votes (100%)

According to Jefferson County, the voter turnout was high, 42%.  But it was not as high as it was during the last Arvada City Council election in 2011 when there was a 51% voter turnout.

The Citizens for a Livable Ralston Community neighborhood association ran 14 election articles on its website.  That included interview notes for all five of the candidates and a number of press releases.  The candidate interviews were held on September 8th and posted in October after approval by each of the candidates.

Links were also provided to videos of the candidate forums.  These Chamber-of-Commerce forums were held in late August and again in late September.

The CLRC’s support software only gives “at-least” numbers, but it appears there were approximately 4916 views of neighborhood association’s articles on our WordPress hosting site, plus approximately another 2800 views by readers who signed up for direct article emails.

The grand total (not counting forwarded emails) is about 7,700 views.  Most of that number is due to voters looking up the candidates’ names on Google in the last weeks of the campaign.
