Here’s the press release from her office:
Long Time Arvada Volunteer Announces Her Candidacy for City Council
Ms. Kathy Drulard, an Arvada resident since 1989, has announced her candidacy for the Arvada City Council At-Large seat. The election will take place by mail ballot in November 2015. Kathy views her campaign for a city council seat as an opportunity to limit local government, particularly as it pertains to urban renewal. Ms. Drulard says, “I’m excited to share my views on eminent domain and thoughtful urban development.” She adds, “I strongly believe that having diverse opinions on the seven member City Council will increase citizen satisfaction and promote transparency.”
Kathy holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from CU-Denver, and is an appointed committee member of the City of Arvada Board of Adjustment. Kathy is a hands-on volunteer. She has served five years as a Boy Scout Troop Committee Chairman. Other volunteer activities include Girl Scouts of USA, North Jeffco Baseball Association, and founding member of the Jefferson County Friends of the Library. Currently, Kathy is an active member with CASA (Court-appointed special advocate) with Jefferson County in several capacities, including fundraising and case work. The case work includes meeting with abused and/or neglected children to determine what is in their best interests, and report the findings to the District Judge. Each case usually lasts around 18 months.
Kathy and her husband, Mark Bishard, live in northwest Arvada with their dog and two beehives. Their grown children attended Jeffco public schools from K-12, and graduated from Ralston Valley.
